Close Button - closes the document you're working on but does not exit the program.

Maximize Button - switches back and forth between full screen and not full screen modes.

Tab - a way to move from one web page to another. Each tab represents a different page. Opening pages as tabs allows you to switch between them easily, just by clicking the tab.

New Tab - Click this to open another web page as a tab. Then you can switch between different pages just by clicking their tabs.

Back Arrow - Takes you back to the previous web page you just visited.

Forward Arrow - Takes you forward to the web page you just backed out of with the back button. This button remains greyed (unusable) until the back button has been used.

Favorite Bar - When you favorite a website, like Gmail, it shows here. Just click the favorite bar button to revisit one of your favorite sites.

Website Address Entry Box - If you know the address of the website you want to visit, like google.com, type it here and then press the Enter or Return key on your keyboard to go to the site. This box also displays the address of the web page that you are currently visiting.

Refresh Button - makes the current webpage reload itself with the most current content.

Search Entry Box - this is the main function of this page - type in anything you want to search for and press the Enter key on your keyboard, or the Google Search button below to start the search.

Google Apps Grid - displays more Google programs, like YouTube and Google News.

Gmail - takes you to your Gmail inbox if you are already signed in to your Google account - otherwise it asks you to sign in first.

+You - takes you to Google+, Google's social networking service, if you have already activated Google+ and are signed in to your Google account - otherwise it asks you to sign in and activate. 

Close Tab - makes the tab go away.

Minimize Button - shrinks the document you're working on down to an icon in the lower part of the screen to get it out of the way. Click that icon to bring your document back.

Other functions - allows access to common functions such as viewing your bookmarked sites, printing a webpage, and changing settings.

Add Favorite - click this to add the current webpage to your favorites.

Google Logo - just a logo - but it changes when Google wants to celebrate something. It then usually becomes an animation which you can click to watch, just for fun.

I'm Feeling Lucky - Performs the same search as the Google Search button, but takes you immediately to the first page on the list, without showing the list.

Google Search - starts the search for what you've entered above. Shows you the list of search results.

Microphone Button - click this to begin speaking your search items instead of typing them in.

Images Search - switches from the default Google search (search for all types of information) to Image Search (search for images only).

Sign In Button - lets you sign in to your Google account (optional).

Privacy & Terms - lets you view Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service agreement.

Settings - let's you change search settings and perform advanced searches.
